Parent/Child Aquatics 6 mo.-3 years
This level is specifically designed for infants and toddlers with their parents. Lessons introduce parent/child teams to the aquatic environment through water exploration in the form of songs, games and rudimentary propulsive movements. Emphasis is placed on basic safety and enjoyable experiences for both parent and child.
Preschool Aquatics 3-5 years
Preschool Aquatics is a progressive program that involves 5 components: personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports, games, and rescue skills. Specific objectives of each level are found on individual certificates where each swimmer’s progress is tracked. Parents must remain on YMCA premises during lessons!
Pike Beginner
For the child who has never had swimming lessons and/or for the child who is apprehensive about submerging his/her face and head. Lessons emphasize water readiness, blowing bubbles, proper kicking and submersion.
Eel Beginner II
For the child who has had previous lessons and is comfortable under water. The child must be able to swim face in with a flutter kick and arm stroke also, to float on back and front with minimal assistance.
Ray Intermediate
For the child who can kick independently on front and back, tread water, jump into deep water, and swim 3 body lengths of freestyle or crawl stroke.
Starfish Advanced
For the child who can swim half the length of the pool freestyle or crawl stroke and half the length of the pool backstroke, and can perform the dolphin dive.
Youth Aquatics Ages 6-12
The YMCA Youth Swim Program involves 5 components:personal growth, personal safety, stroke development, water sports and games, and rescue skills. Strokes taught conform to competition criteria. Levels build progressively upon skills mastered in previous levels. Individual certificates track swimmers’ progress through the program.
Polliwog Beginner
This is an introductory level that teaches water adjustment and aquatic safety. Lessons emphasize breath control, efficient kicking and arm strokes, and treading water.
Guppy Beginner II
This level is designed to teach bilateral breathing with the crawl stroke and build stamina and endurance. New skills include survival stroke, dolphin kick and elementary back kick.
Minnow Intermediate
This level is designed for the swimmer who is able to swim half the length of the pool using a front crawl with strong flutter kick, extended arm pull and bilateral breathing. He/she can also swim half a length using backstroke. New skills include breaststroke kick, standing dive and synchronized swimming skills.
Fish Intermediate II
This level is for the swimmer who is able to swim a length of the pool using the crawl stroke and a length of the pool using backstroke, tread water for a minute, and perform a standing dive. New skills include scissors kick, butterfly stroke, and breaststroke.
Flying Fish/Shark Advanced
These levels are designed for the swimmer who can swim 3 continuous lengths of the pool using crawl stroke, 3 lengths swimming backstroke, and 1 length of elementary backstroke. Demonstrate a rudimentary butterfly and breaststroke. New skills include sidestroke, flip turns, and rescue skills.

Deep Water Aerobics
We are very proud to introduce the suspended deep-water aqua workout using Aqua Jogging belts and music. This workout will challenge even the most fit of individual, with no stress on the joints of the body. Everyone will love this new workout. Since this is a deep-water workout, being comfortable in deep water is highly recommended. (pool depth is 5ft)
Aquaflex Adults
An exciting class using the water’s resistance. A challenging workout that allows you to work at your own pace. This is a Beginner/Intermediate level class featuring fun choreography and resistance equipment.
Splashburner Adults
A high-intensity water aerobics format for those who want to have fun while maintaining cardio benefits from the water. Fun choreography and upbeat music are used to support the class while participants are challenged by a variety of aquatic equipment for resistance and muscle conditioning.
Range of Motion Class Adults
A great place to start if you’ve never done water-aerobics, or it has been a while. Emphasizes maintaining and increasing range of motion, strength and mobility, to benefit daily activity function. Classes begin the first week of every month.
Masters Swim Club Adults
Adult swim team for all ability levels. Enjoy the fitness of swimming with the camaraderie of a team. See Masters Bulletin Board in Pool Area for information.
Stroke Clinic
Add speed and finesse to your swimming! Coach Bob Couch
This is a 4 week session, with classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:30 - 6:15PM. Each week focuses on a difference stroke: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
Eligibility: Participant must be able to swim 25 meters of freestyle and backstroke, 12 meters of a competitively legal breaststroke and butterfly. Stroke assessments will be held at 7:00PM on the Thursday prior to the start of each session. See the program brochure for more information.
Adult Stroke Clinic
This class is perfect for the adult who is interested in improving the efficiency, speed, or intensity of their swimming workout! Next session starts, November 10-December 1 and will be held Tuesdays at 11:30am-12:30PM. See the front desk for more information.
Porpoise Club
Jump into a variety of aquatic experiences! Coach Barbara Knopp
The 4 week long session (Tuesdays and Thursday, 6:45PM - 7:45PM) will focus on different aquatic themes, including, but not limited to: stroke refinement and strengthening, water exercise and fitness swimming, personal safety and lifesaving skills, introduction to competitive swimming, and leadership teaching skills.

the Golden Floaties
Are you uncomfortable in the water, anxious about water in your face? Now is the perfect time to overcome those fears and learn to swim! Meet your friends twice a week at the pool for a time of gentle instruction in basic water skills. Classes focus on working through the tension which holds your feet to the pool bottom, floating, kicking, and paddling to safety.
