Our goal is to complete this ambitious project in one phase by raising the $4.0 million necessary to complete the renovation and expansion of our facility. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to this community project through the giving of your time and financial resources. Your contribution will make it possible for the Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA to be successful for another 132 years … and more!
We would like to offer a special thanks to a small group of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to secure almost $3 million on our $4 million goal. Now we turn to you, our community, to help us complete our effort.
Our Facility: Shaping Our Environment
IMAGINE THE YMCA once again as the centerpiece of a healthy and fit community. To achieve this, our facility on North Coalter Street must be enlarged and renovated, providing many additional tools to work with people of all ages, particularly in the fight against obesity. The community will reap many benefits including healthy hearts, lungs, bones and muscles. The building of friendships, an increased sense of wellbeing and confidence, and the improved mental abilities that are the result of physical activity and social interaction will thrive in this new environment. Now, imagine you helped the YMCA become that centerpiece through these facility improvements.
Gymnasium:
A new full-sized gymnasium to accommodate our growing membership and rapidly expanding basketball program which is run in collaboration with the City of Staunton Parks and Recreation Department.
Child Watch Area:
Essential to our family-oriented YMCA, we plan to relocate and significantly increase the size of this specialized area — one where parents can feel confident leaving their children while they participate in a wide variety of expanded programs
Fitness Center:
Expansion and addition of machines and equipment in the fitness center to better accommodate increased demand during peak hours of the day.
Aerobics Studios:
Expansion of aerobics rooms on the second floor to accommodate a growing demand for more and varied exercise programs.
Accessibility Upgrades:
A new, centrally located entrance and lobby to provide enhanced access to expanded fitness venues and reinforce the building’s security.
Capital Campaign: Shaping the Future
THE STAUNTON-AUGUSTA FAMILY YMCA has enriched the lives of countless individuals in the region for well over a century. They have learned to swim here. They have met lifelong friends here. They have grown up here, brought their children here, and, later, maybe their grandchildren. Whether addressing the needs of the physically active through a wide array of programs, or providing the security of quality child care, or quite simply, providing a place for fun and fellowship in the broad sense of the word, our YMCA has been an integral part of the community’s quality of life. We invite everyone — all races, all
religions, all income levels, and all ages — to become members of the YMCA family. As our family grows, we are faced with the need to expand our home to accommodate well over 10,000 visitors each month. We turn to you — our friends and family — to request your support as we continue Shaping the Future of Staunton and Augusta County. Be a part of local YMCA history. There is no better time than the present to invest in the future … of your community.
